For Support Coordinators

Interest-led support for participants
who need something different.

Some participants thrive in traditional community programs. Others engage far better when support begins with something they already care about. Driven Support provides individualised community access and capacity-building support across South East Queensland.

Who might benefit?

A different starting point
can change the conversation.

Driven Support may suit participants who:

01

Prefer 1:1 support

02

Struggle to engage with traditional group programs

03

Have strong automotive, motorsport, outdoor or practical interests

04

Want to build confidence participating in the community

05

Benefit from structured and predictable activities

06

Want to explore new environments gradually

07

Are working toward greater independence

08

Respond well to interest-led engagement

Participant goals

How support can
align with goals.

Interests create a practical place to begin. The support itself remains connected to the participant’s own goals, circumstances and choices.

01

Increase community participation

Attend a local event or community activity with individualised support.

02

Build confidence and independence

Plan and complete outings, navigate unfamiliar environments and gradually take greater ownership of decisions.

03

Develop practical skills

Participate in car-care, vehicle-awareness or other practical activities connected to the participant’s interests.

04

Develop social confidence

Participate in low-pressure community environments such as local events, automotive gatherings or interest-based outings.

Activities are selected according to the individual participant’s circumstances, goals, funding arrangements and support needs.

Planning for the day

Know What to Expect.

For higher-stimulation activities, participants can be given clear information beforehand about what the environment may involve.

Preparing in advance can make unfamiliar environments feel more predictable and comfortable without making support feel clinical or complicated.

01

Environment

Noise level, crowd density, walking requirements, seating, toilets, shade, weather exposure and quiet areas.

02

Access & transport

Accessibility, transport arrangements, where to meet and what the participant may need to bring.

03

Choice & flexibility

The activity shape, sensory load, planned breaks and whether leaving early is possible if needed.

04

Individual context

Participant-specific risks, communication preferences, support needs and any practical details to discuss beforehand.
