About Driven Support

Disability support
with a real story.

Driven Support is an independent disability support service for people who want community participation to feel personal, purposeful and connected to the things they genuinely enjoy.

WHY DRIVEN SUPPORT EXISTS

More than motorsport

The story behind Driven Support starts long before the cars.

I grew up in Tasmania, and while there were plenty of good parts to my childhood, it was also challenging in ways that forced me to grow up quickly.

From a young age, I carried significant responsibility at home, including regularly helping care for family members living with mental and physical disabilities. At the same time, I often felt the pressure to be the person who kept things moving and helped hold things together.

That experience gave me an early understanding of how demanding everyday life can be, and how much more difficult those ordinary pressures can become when disability is part of the picture.

It also shaped something that has stayed with me ever since: a genuine desire to be useful to people, to provide consistency, and to be someone others can rely on.

After moving to Queensland, I faced my own personal challenges and periods of uncertainty. Rather than allowing those experiences to define me negatively, I have tried to use them as opportunities to grow, become more resilient and better understand the value of structure, purpose and supportive relationships.

Driven Support is the result of bringing those experiences together.

Cars and motorsport are a major part of who I am, but the business is not really about cars.

It is about understanding the person in front of you, finding what genuinely interests them, and using that as a starting point to build confidence, independence and connection.

I want participants to know that when I say I will be there, I will be there. I want families to feel that the person supporting their loved one is reliable, respectful and genuinely invested in helping them get more from everyday life.

For participants who value having a positive male role model in their life, I also hope I can provide that in an appropriate, respectful and participant-led way.

Driven Support was created to provide highly individualised disability support across South East Queensland, built around real interests, real experiences and real relationships.

Why interest matters

A genuine reason
to be involved.

People tend to engage more naturally when there is a genuine reason to be involved. That idea sits at the centre of Driven Support.

Rather than deciding what a participant should enjoy, support begins with what already matters to them and builds opportunities for confidence, independence and community participation from there.

“I know what it is like to carry responsibility early, to face challenges, and to keep moving forward. Driven Support is my way of using those experiences to help someone else build confidence, independence and a life they genuinely enjoy.”Liam O’Connor

The story behind the service

Responsibility → purpose.

A broader life story about reliability, family, community, work and the interests that helped shape a clear sense of direction.

It is bigger than motorsport

Community participation can start with whatever draws someone in.

Sport, events, outdoor activities and everyday experiences can all create room for confidence, connection and skills. The interest is the starting point — not a limit.

Values in practice

What that means for Driven Support

Reliability, respect, individuality and growth are the foundation. The automotive niche is simply one way those values can come to life.

01

Reliability

If we say we will be there, we show up. Consistency matters, especially when participants and families are relying on support.

02

Respect

Support starts with listening. Participants should feel heard, involved and respected in decisions about their own day.

03

Individuality

No two people should receive the same generic support plan. Driven Support starts with the participant’s interests, preferences and goals.

04

Growth

Small experiences can build bigger confidence. A coffee, a walk, a basic car-care activity or a race-day outing can all create opportunities to build independence over time.

Where cars fit in

The niche is automotive.
The principle is broader.

Cars and motorsport have been part of Liam’s life from a young age.

From karting in Tasmania to working professionally in the automotive industry and remaining involved in motorsport in Queensland, the automotive world has provided community, purpose and experiences that naturally bring people together.

That is why cars form the initial specialisation of Driven Support.

But the principle is broader than motorsport.

Start with what matters to the person. Then build support around it.
