Start with the person

A possible day,
not a fixed programme.

This example is designed to be flexible. The participant might stay for breakfast and a few cars, spend longer talking or photography, or decide that the first stop is enough. A track visit is only considered when current access, timing and individual suitability make sense.

Participant choice, current venue information, access needs, transport, support requirements and the conditions of the day all shape what proceeds.

Traffic-light planning guide

See what may need
more planning.

Often green to amber because timing, duration and the second part of the day can be changed easily.

This is a general planning prompt—not a clinical assessment, diagnosis, formal risk rating or guarantee of suitability. Conditions and individual responses can change.

Green Usually lower or easier to adjust
Amber Discuss and plan ahead
Red Likely higher or more changeable

Sound

Car starts, exhausts and conversation can create sudden noise. Begin away from vehicle movement and adjust the distance if needed.

Plan ahead

Crowds

Popular meets can become busy. Arriving earlier, later or choosing a smaller event may make the social environment more manageable.

Usually lower

Walking & access

The outing can usually be kept compact, but parking surfaces, seating and toilet access should still be checked with the organiser or venue.

Plan ahead

Predictability

Attendance and displays may change without notice. Build the day around participation rather than seeing one promised vehicle.

Plan ahead

Weather exposure

Many meets are outdoors. Plan shade, water, suitable clothing and an indoor or shorter alternative.

Usually lower

Quieter options

Breakfast, the vehicle, a short walk or another low-key community activity can provide straightforward reset options.

Potential focus

What the day
may make room for.

  • Social participation
  • Decision-making
  • Planning a day
  • Confidence in community settings
  • Conversation through a shared interest

May suit participants interested in

  • Cars & Coffee
  • Automotive culture
  • Photography
  • Breakfast or café outings
  • Lower-pressure social environments

These are possible starting points, not eligibility rules or promised outcomes. Suitability is discussed individually.

Flexible on the day

If we need to
change the plan.

A pause, shorter visit, different activity or early finish can be a positive participant-led decision.

01

The meet is louder or busier than expected

  • Start with breakfast away from the busiest area.
  • Look at one section rather than the whole event.
  • Take a short walk or return to the vehicle for a break.
  • Leave the meet and continue with a quieter agreed activity.
02

The participant wants a simpler day

  • Keep the outing to coffee and one or two vehicles.
  • Replace the track visit with automotive photography or route planning.
  • Choose a familiar café, scenic stop or local community activity.
  • Finish early and use the feedback to shape the next outing.
03

Weather or event details change

  • Move to an indoor café or covered public space.
  • Use the time for a practical car-care checklist or automotive learning activity.
  • Choose another suitable public activity without promising equivalent access.
  • Reschedule the automotive event component.

Good to know

This is an example only. Events may change or be cancelled, and a track visit is not automatic. Entry, parking, food and ordinary activity costs may be separate from support costs. Venue access and suitability are confirmed before the outing.

Support arrangements, transport and participant-paid activity costs are discussed before the outing. NDIS funding does not automatically cover tickets, meals or ordinary recreational expenses.
